왕초보영어(제2310회) : 직업-대표님을 만나게 되다니

안녕하세요, 대표님.  회계부서 Peter입니다.

오, 자네가 Peter군 !  자네 상사가 매번 자네 얘기를 한다네.

자네가 엄청 열심이라는군.

감사합니다.  그저 제일을 하고 있을 뿐입니다.

 

Hello, Sir.  I'm Peter from the accounting department.

Oh, You are Peter !  Your boss talks about you all the time.

He says You are very hardworking.

   sir = 남자를 부르는 존칭

   Hello, Sir.  I'm Mayu.

   You can't come in here, Sir.

   

Z Oh, You are Peter !  Your boss talks about you all the time.

   talk = 얘기하다

   all the time = 매번 / 항상

   She talks about her boyfriend all the time.

   I come here all the time.

 

 

Z He says You are very hardworking.

   hardworking = 열심히 하는(일 / 직업 / 공부...)

   (주어) says + (평서문) = (주어)가 말하길 (평서문)이다 / (주어)는 (평서문)이라고 한다

   She says She likes Korea.

   They say They don't hire students.

 

M Thank you. I'm just doing my job.

   job = 일자리 / 일 / 임무

   be (~ing) = (~ing) 하고 있다

   I am playing basketball.

   We are just relaxing.

 

Q 그는 한국을 매번 방문해.

   He visits Korea all the time.

All the time = 매번 / 항상 = regular

Say(Said) //

(주어) Says + (평서문) = (주어)가 말하길 (평서문)이다 / (주어)는 (평서문)이라고 한다

(주어) Say + (평서문) = (주어)가 그러는데 (평서문) 이래.

She says She is not interested.

My lawer says It's not my fault.

Ron says He is fine.

He says You are very hardworking.

   hardworking = 열심히 하는(일 / 직업 / 공부...)

She says She likes Korea.

They say They don't hire students.

 

(주어) said + (평서문:과거형) = (주어)가 (평서문:과거형)이라고 말했어

He said I was lazy. But I'm not !

   I'm not ! = I'm not lazy !

She said you were mad.

You said you were there.

It is.  She said it's okay.

   okay = 괜찮은 = fine

It is (my wife's birthday today)

You said you live in seoul.

Mayu said It's okay.

 

Be (~ing) = (~ing) 하고 있다 / 현시점에 한참 ~ 하고 있을 때.

Be (~ing) = (~ing) 하고 있다 <=> Be not (~ing) = (~ing) 하고 있지 않다

Honey, The heater is working again. <=> Honey, The heater is not working again.

Honey, The elevator is working.        <=> Honey, The elevator is not working.

The lights are working.                      <=> The lights are not working. = The lights are not coming on.

   look = 일반적으로 보다  vs  watch = 일정기간 꾸준히 보다

   see = 보이는 것  vs  look = 의도적으로 보는 것

   obvious = 뻔한 / 티가 나는

Is someone using the toilet?

   toilet = 변기 / 화장실 = lavatory = bathroom

Are you using this computer?

Is she taking the test.
